The wiretap
On May 19th and 20th, 2001, a 14 year old boy who said he had been solicited by Brady
Smith was wiretapped by the Champaign Police, to attempt to get another
solicitation on
audiotape. There are two parts to this: a phone call between the
youth and Smith on Saturday night around 10:00pm, and then a conversation
between the youth and Smith at Smith's home on Sunday evening.

Page 4 - Youth wants money for cell phone, Brady
doesn't want to give him money
Page 5 - Brady wants to know how youth will pay back

Page 8 - Brady says he'll think about ways for youth
to pay it back and call him back.
Page 9 - Brady calls back and says money has to come
after "his end of deal".
Page 10 - Youth asks whether his end of deal is sex,
Brady asks if there are 19 people on line and answering machine on.
Page 11 - Youth wants to know so he can think about
it, and Brady says he already knows what the deal is, accuses youth of being
slick
Page 12 - Brady asks youth to think about it and give
him a call.
Page 13 - Brady said he'd get together this evening
if the youth wanted to.

- Brady said he will pick up youth and conversation ends.
At Smith's House, next day. Note there is a TV on in the background, and
some of the conversation is responding to what is on the TV, which is the
reason why the State's Attorney believes the tape is vague.

for $90, and Smith says what, youth repeats question, Smith say
"yeah". Youth says it might have to be $150 and Brady says "You got it",
then talks about Julia Child.
Page 12 - Brady says he won't raise the price, and the
youth would have trouble explaining where the money came from

Page 14 - Youth gets phone call
Page 15 - Youth gets another phone call, and leaves
